The Freedom Challenge and the Dusi Umgeni Conservation Trust will host the Duzi Trail Run taking participants through the valley of the Umgeni and Umsindusi Rivers.

Date:  Friday 18 June 2010

Distance:  88 kms (same as Comrades)

Start time: 5h30 (although we might make it an hour earlier)

Start:  Mango Rapid in Durban

Finish:  Bishopstowe Hall, Pietermaritzburg

Run route:

From the start at Mango rapid, up the Umgeni River to Kwadabeka pedestrian bridge and upstream to Island, wade across to the old Island ford, through to Molweni causeway crossing and then up to the Inanda Dam wall.  Along the western side of Inanda Dam to the head of the dam, past Mbenje store, up to Ngumeni, through to Marianna Foley bridge, across to Thukela Store, through to Mission bridge, through Devil’s Cauldron and then on through Campbell’s Farm to the finish at Bishopstowe Hall. 

Logistical Support:

There will be limited marshalling along the route. 

Water will be provided at designated points along the route.  It will be possible to meet up with seconds at these points. 

What to carry:

A headlight (it gets light at 7h00 and dark by 17h30)

2 litres of hydration
